In tradie businesses it is easy for the line to be blurred between being the boss & a mate.
It can be difficult to be firm & direct with your staff while maintaining relationship, but it is important to be both.
Being too much of a mate and not enough of a boss can look like: staff underperforming, staff getting shitty when corrected, expectations may not be clear, too much fun not enough work.
And on the flip side if we are too much of a boss (dictating & controlling) and not enough of a mate (relational) it can look like: Staff are disconnected & disengaged, they underperform, they donβt feel valuable to you or the business.
