4 Ways to Understand Your Partner

Working together in business can be TOUGH. We are our best support people and advocates, but it can at times be a bit 'touchy' if you don't align completely when it comes to implementing business decisions.
There's a few things you can do to mitigate 'shit hitting the fan' in your relationship.

1. Seek first to understand the other - don't assume that the other person doesn't care about what you care about. They do, it just isn't as high up the list for them as it might be for you right now. And on that........

2. We don't all have the same priorities - whilst we logically know for instance, that cashflow is the lifeblood of a business, keeping the customer might be more of a priority to some business owners than others. Or, whilst we know we want to be home with the kids on time, if the job doesn't finish the invoice doesn't go out - so we stay longer onsite. Choosing to do some things before others is not done to hurt anyone on purpose, it might just be the priority at that time has shifted.

3. Be patient - change takes time. We are all growing and if we are not accepting of the time it takes for some people to grow vs others, we can become frustrated. Penny drop moments happen all the time in business, so let things roll sometimes, and they will happen.

4. Don't save each other all the time from mistakes - the learning process will take longer. When we rescue each other from things that will 'hurt' our business or others, we steal away the opportunity to learn - people have to learn their own way when things go wrong - muck up regularly and muck up fast - there are no mistakes - only amazing lessons learned.

Try these things - they really do work!
